The Toolts Percentage Calculator handles the three most common percentage calculations people need. Whether you are figuring out a tip, comparing prices, analyzing data, or calculating grade scores, these calculators give you instant results without any formulas.

How to Calculate Percentages

A percentage represents a fraction of 100. To find X% of a number, multiply the number by X and divide by 100. For example, 25% of 200 is (200 × 25) ÷ 100 = 50. To find what percentage one number is of another, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100. For example, 50 is (50 ÷ 200) × 100 = 25% of 200.

Percentage Change

Percentage change measures how much a value has increased or decreased relative to its original amount. The formula is: ((new value − old value) ÷ old value) × 100. A positive result indicates an increase, while a negative result indicates a decrease. This is commonly used in finance, sales reports, and data analysis to compare values over time.

Common Percentage Uses

Percentages appear everywhere in daily life. Restaurant tips are usually 15–20% of the bill. Sales discounts are expressed as a percentage off the original price. Tax rates, interest rates, grade scores, battery levels, and statistical data all use percentages. Understanding how to calculate them quickly is a practical skill that saves time in both personal and professional contexts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use the first calculator. Enter the tip percentage (e.g., 20) and the bill amount. For a $85 bill with 20% tip: 20% of 85 = $17 tip.
Use the first calculator to find the discount amount, then subtract from the original price. For 30% off $60: 30% of 60 = $18 discount, so the sale price is $60 − $18 = $42.
